Learn to fence at Orlando fencing Sports Center during our summer day camps . This year, both Beginner and Intermediate Epee camps are planned.

Beginner day camps are targeted at those who are new, or nearly new, to fencing. Each camp session comprises instruction, conditioning, drilling and bouting. All necessary equipment is supplied. The instruction covers a concise history of the sport, an introduction to the weapons, rules, technique and tactics, proper grip and stance, footwork, and strategy of modern Olympic style fencing . It will give aspiring fencers a good overview and grounding for further growth and development in this fascinating sport.

Intermediate Epee camps are for those who have already fenced for some time (typically at least one year), but not yet at a high competitive level (unrated, E rated, or D rated). It is assumed that intermediate fencers will already own their own equipment. The intermediate camp will reinforce basic skills, but also discuss and practice more advanced techniques and strategies.

Both summer camps run for five days, in either morning or afternoon sessions. Several hours of the day camps will be devoted to actual fencing, using competition weapons with electronic scoring.

There are two Beginners' Camps planned, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These will be held during the week of July 15 -19. Sessions run 3 1/2 hours each. Morning sessions are from 9:00 to 12:30 and afternoon sessions are from 1:30 to 5:00. Morning sessions will be for campers of ages 13 to 17. Afternoon sessions will be campers ages 8 to 12.

For the Intermediate Camp during the week of June 17 - 21 , mornings will be for campers of ages 8 to 12 and afternoons will be for campers 13 to 17. The cost is $300 per each week long camp, half of which is due upon registration, with the remainder due at the beginning of the first camp session. Pricing is discounted $50, for registration booked and paid before June for the Intermediate session and before July for the Beginners’ session. Camp size each session is limited to ten campers. Camps with fewer than four registered campers at the beginning of the respective camp session will be cancelled, with a full refund given.
